For most people the difference between ingredients in the two brands isn’t a big deal because both have fewer chemicals than more traditional brands. But let’s take a closer look and see what exactly is in each diaper.
Looking at the ingredients in Honest Diapers vs. Hello Bello, both diapers do NOT contain fragrance, phthalates, parabens, or latex. Both are also made from wood pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests.
At this point, I just want to mention that there are no truly eco-friendly disposable diapers. The most eco-friendly option on the market is cloth diapers you can wash and reuse. As far as design goes, these diapers are so similar. They both have cute designs, are made from cloth-like materials, and are eco-friendly materials. But there are some differences, so let’s break it down piece by piece to compare the designs of Honest diapers vs. Hello Bello.
Absorbency: Are Hello Bello or Honest Company Diapers more absorbent and leakproof?
Hello Bello diapers are made with a core of wood pulp harvested from sustainable forests. Their website says that have super leak protection, but reviews on this are mixed. Most parents love these diapers and have no problems, but some say that are very thin and leak easily. In fact, my cousin is using Hello Bello with her youngest right now and said they are more prone to leaks than other brands.
Honest Company also uses wood pulp harvested from sustainable forests in the core of their diapers. They say the channels in the diapers keep wetness away from the baby and the quilted bubble liner keeps the baby dry without leaks. On websites like Amazon, they score higher than Hello Bello for absorbancy by a smidge.
I have personally used Honest Diapers for 4 of my kids, and leaks have never been a problem. You do have to size up a little on them though because I think they run slightly small, which is a shortcoming of theirs.
Wetness Indicator: Do Hello Bello and Honest Diapers have wetness indicators?
Honest Diapers vs. Hello Bello do differ when it comes to the wetness indicator. Honest Diapers have a wetness indicator for all sizes, while Hello Bello has a wetness indicator up to size 3.
So if a wetness indicator is a deal breaker for you, then after size 3 you’ll want to go with Honest Company Diapers because they do have a wetness indicator beyond size 3.
Hello Bello and Honest Diapers Sizing and Fit
I have used Honest Diapers with all 4 of my kids (among many other brands too!), and I didn’t notice the fit being off or small with any of them except my youngest. She is a very large baby, coming in at 10.5 pounds at birth, and she has been big ever since. At just 11 months she is up to a size 6 already! I’ve noticed that on her they seem to be a little narrow and small, plus the straps are not very stretchy compared to other traditional brands like Pampers.
Looking at Hello Bello diapers, there are some parents who say they run small, and some even say they run big! But I think both complaints on sizing and the issues I’ve seen on sizing with my youngest are outliers. Most parents don’t have much to say on the fit and sizing of either brand.

On the Hello Bello website, a pack of 30 diapers plus 4 packs of wipes costs $69.99. The cost per diaper works out to be about $0.26 per diaper.
On the Honest Company website, a pack of 32 diapers costs $12.99. The cost per diaper works out to be about $40 per diaper.
It’s worth noting that both brands offer discounts for subscribing to regular deliveries, which can bring the cost per diaper down even further. Additionally, prices may vary depending on the size and type of diaper being purchased. But if you decided to purchase bundles shipped to your home from each company, here is the price breakdown.
